Oil City News – March 2, 2026 – CASPER, Wyo. — Natrona County Clerk of District Court Jill Kiester announced Monday that she will seek reelection for her position on the Republican Party ticket in the upcoming elections.
Kiester has served in her role since being appointed by the Natrona County commissioners in March 2021, before being subsequently elected in 2022.
“Serving the citizens of Natrona County is my passion,” Kiester said in a release.
As clerk of district court, Kiester is responsible for maintaining the records of the Seventh Judicial District Court. The records include civil, probate, criminal, adoption, juvenile and involuntary commitment cases. She’s also responsible for caring for the jurors during District Court jury trials.
According to Kiester, the Seventh Judicial District Court in Casper is one of the busiest courts in the state.
“In 2025, we filed 2,360 new cases, conducted many jury trials, and processed over 65,000 legal pleadings, along with processing $441,608.75 in child support payments,” she said.
Looking back on her first term in office, Kiester pointed to the implementation of the new case management system and e-filing portal that she oversaw as one of her primary accomplishments.
Kiester has been active in the Clerk of District Courts Association, serving as president, and she also serves on many county and statewide committees. She is a current officer on the Wyoming Association of County Officials Board.
This past year, Kiester was involved in the new court navigator program, which helps those representing themselves in court cases.
Kiester said she brings a work background which well qualifies her for the job. She began her career in 1988 in the child support section of the Clerk of District Court’s Office. In 1994, she was assigned by Clerk of Court Sue Pate to manage the newly established county child support enforcement office. She led and managed this program until she was appointed to be the Clerk of District Court.
Kiester said she has been involved in county government her entire professional career.
“It is my privilege and my honor to do this job every day. I am excited to continue making this office as efficient as possible and to serve the citizens of Natrona County as their Clerk of District Court,” she said.
